Wakali Safaris started with a simple idea: the people planning your trip should be the people who actually live where you are going.
We are based in Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania's northern circuit, and we run our own guides and our own fleet of 4x4 safari vehicles rather than subcontracting to whoever is available that week. That control is what lets us hold price and quality at the same time.
Every itinerary on this site — from a three-day taster safari to an eleven-day signature circuit — is a starting point. We quote every trip individually, and the specialist who writes your proposal is the same person you can call once you are on the road.
Whether it is a first safari, a honeymoon, a family trip or a Kilimanjaro summit attempt, the process is the same: tell us roughly what you want, and we will turn it into a real, priced itinerary within a day.
Our office and vehicle yard are both in Arusha, not a call centre somewhere else and not a booking platform reselling someone else's trip. When your guide radios ahead to a lodge, or the office reroutes you around a closed road, it is because the same small company owns both ends of that call.
Why choose Wakali
Full-time employees who know the parks, not freelancers hired for the week.
Private 4x4s with pop-up roofs, maintained in our own Arusha yard.
One quote, no hidden extras, whether you book direct or shop around first.
The specialist who plans your trip answers when you call from the road.
We live here — route timing and lodge choices come from experience, not a brochure.
Every itinerary on this site is a starting point. Change anything before you commit.
From a rough idea to a real trip
Rough dates, group size and the kind of trip you're after — safari, Kilimanjaro, the coast, or all three.
A specialist in our Arusha office writes back within 24 hours with routes, lodges and prices — not a brochure.
Change the pace, the lodges, the length — as many times as you need, at no cost, before you commit to anything.
A deposit confirms the trip. From there, our own guides and vehicles carry it through, door to door.
The people who run your trip
Not subcontractors — the same full-time guides and office team behind every Wakali itinerary, several of whom our travellers ask for by name in their reviews.
Not a badge — what we actually do
Every Wakali guide is a full-time employee, not a freelancer hired for the week, and every mountain crew we send up Kilimanjaro is paid at KPAP-recommended rates, with proper gear, food and load limits. That is a real cost we build into pricing, not a marketing line — and it means steady, fair local employment rather than day-rate gig work.
We are not currently Travelife-certified, and we would rather say that plainly than display a badge we have not earned. What we can point to instead is direct: our own guides, our own vehicles, and conservation and park fees that go where they are supposed to.
