Overview
The Machame Route is the most scenic way up Kilimanjaro and, over seven days, one of the most successful. It approaches from the south-west through rainforest, crosses the Shira Plateau, traverses beneath the Southern Ice Field and climbs the Barranco Wall before the summit push to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres. The extra day matters: it gives your body the time it needs to adjust, which is why we do not sell the six-day version to first-time climbers. Mountain crew, park fees, camping equipment and meals are all included.
